Dave Verheul leads the kitchen team at Matterhorn having honed his skills at London and Sydney hotspots such as the Fat Duck, The Savoy Grill and The Bentley. At Matterhorn, Dave sources the finest local, wild and imported ingredients to create dishes that are authentic yet served with unmistakable flair. Whilst refining the ever-developing menus on offer Dave will continue the Matterhorn legacy of quality dining and service in a casual and welcoming environment.
Dave’s food creations play on the beautiful tension between being flavoursome yet clean and balanced, interesting and exciting yet approachable and honest, classic yet contemporary. Beautifully struck, the balance between savoury, sweet, texture, flavour, depth and lightness is evident in his food.
Lately Dave has been busy creating a seven course degustation with a difference. Each dish is carefully designed to take you on a sublime culinary journey. Our renowned mixologists Riki Carter and Claire Harlick have lovingly crafted perfectly matched cocktails for each course. 'The Deg' is a dining experience like no other in Wellington.
